10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019 + New Year Target Giveaway

There’s a reason why everyone in your life has their headphones on at all times. From your device to the buds in our ear, thousands of podcasts are being consumed on the hour and are resonating with listeners around the world. When I’m not listening to a tech or true crime show, you can find me listening to self-help and motivational podcasts. The portability allows me to not only learn but feel human connection when I’m getting through the day.

I’ve updated my popular 2016 list to bring you 10 new motivational podcasts to try in the new year. As you find your footing in this new season, I hope you remark on your own story while hearing those of other trailblazers and dreamers. May these help you feel inspired to change the world, empowered to master your finances, motivated to start a business, proud to be a woman, and excited to wake up to a new day.

Without further ado, here are my 10 motivational podcasts to catapult you to success in 2019.

Good Life Project

Good Life Project - 10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019 - Cup of Charisma

I cannot say enough positive things about Jonathan Fields’ Good Life Project. Maybe it’s because the ENTIRE podcast is meant to focus on the good? Motivational heavy hitters like Elizabeth Gilbert, Brene Brown, Seth Godin, and Gretchen Rubin have all been guests. Fields interviews a wide variety of experts who get incredibly vulnerable about what it means to find rhythm, happiness, and inspiration in life. One of my favorite episodes this year was a conversation with Scott Harrison, the founder of charity: water. Harrison shared his shift from hedonism in his twenties to his selfless mission to bring clean water to 8.2 million people.

How I Built This with Guy Raz

How I built this with Guy Raz - 10 motivational podcasts

Want to know how Jenn Hyman launched the revolutionary concept, Rent the Runway? Interested in the rise of Steve Madden’s shoe career (whom I actually interviewed back in 2013)? Guy Raz sits down with every successful founder you can imagine for the How I Built This podcast. It’s inspiring to hear someone else’s road to success and draw comparisons to your own. The interviewees have grit and passion that will motivate you to create the next big thing. My favorite episode is a bittersweet interview with the late Kate Spade and husband Andy Spade.

Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations

Oprah's Super Soul Conversations - 10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019 - Cup of Charisma

Does this podcast even need an explanation? While I don’t need to defend my position on Super Soul Conversations, I will say that I feel more connected to myself and galvanized to think outside social norms when listening to Oprah’s podcast. She speaks to amazing guests on strength, struggle, vulnerability, faith, love, and so much more. Everyone can use a little Oprah in their life. I often revisit is the episode with the late Dr. Maya Angelou as well as her conversation with Brene Brown.

How It Is

How It Is Podcast - 10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019 - Cup of Charisma

How many times can I say I LOVE this podcast? Hello Sunshine’s How It Is topped my list of the best podcasts of 2018. Reese Witherspoon’s media company made to celebrate the stories of women, delivered on its promise to make women’s stories heard. Hear the stories of women in their own words as they share their personal truths, tales of overcoming adversity, and life lessons. While the show has featured celebrities like Jameela Jamil and Gabrielle Union, it highlights women from all walks of life. Hear from a wide swath of diverse women including a blacksmith, a disabled minority comedian, a roller derby star, the organizer of a national charity, writers and more. Occasionally, Reese Witherspoon will even hop on!

The Daring Romantics

The Daring Romantics Podcast by Lindsey Eryn - 10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019 - Cup of Charisma

In life, we inevitably stumble upon people who can change the course of our lives and make us a better, more whole person if we pay attention. I had a streak of luck in 2014 when I won a trip to a women’s development weekend in Denver, ultimately meeting the founders of Wild Hearts Co. Lindsey Eryn and Lauren Palomares came into my life when I was seeking female friendships, connections, and the courage to take a leap and quit my day job. Shortly after, Lindsey (perhaps the most eloquent and inspirational women around — think millennial Oprah) launched her weekly pep talk newsletter and her incredible podcast, The Daring Romantics. Each week, Lindsey bears her soul and life lessons with vulnerability and intention. She makes listeners feel supported and uplifted while encouraging them to dream their wildest dreams.

I truly love this girl and felt so lucky to have met her, so I’m glad to announce you can now be her pal, too, by subscribing to The Daring Romantics!

RISE Podcast with Rachel Hollis

Rise Podcast with Rachel Hollis - 10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019 - Cup of Charisma

After seeing so many friends reading “Girl, Wash Your Face,” my interest in Rachel Hollis was piqued. I can’t say I’ve been a follower along. Actually, I admit to being a total Rachel Hollis band wagoner with good reason. I recently started listening to the RISE Podcast, starting with the episode “How to Gain Control of Your Money with Rachel Cruze.” I found myself admiring her honesty, positive spirit and drive. I’ll be tuning into this one in 2019!

Life Kit from NPR: Secrets of Saving and Investing

Life Kit from NPR Secrets to Saving 10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019 - Cup of Charisma

I JUST dived into this podcast because of one honest thing: money. I have written about financial well-being and learning to be financial free a bit on this blog, but I’m a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to saving and investing my money. I’ve manifested that 2019 is the year I’m going to start a retirement fund (yikes), invest in a house, and find ways to grow my income by working smarter, not harder. Why not add another podcast to my routine?

If this sounds like you, I highly recommend Worth It by Amanda Steinberg. This book will give you the motivation you need to take charge of your income.

The episodes are all under 10 minutes, making the podcast an efficient way to get in your daily motivation.

The Influencer Podcast with Julie Solomon

The Influencer Podcast with Julie Solomon - 10 Motivational Podcasts for 2019

This one’s for the bloggers and influencers in the back! Personally, I feel that Julie Solomon (PR pro turned blogger and coach) has information that applies to any small business owner or creative. Her podcast features stories and insights from influencers and experts succeeding in their industry. Her topics include tips for increasing web traffic, how to land large brand partnerships, how to host a meetup, and how to succeed as a multi-passionate entrepreneur. My dear friend Alex Michael May — an uplifting and effervescent lifestyle blogger who embodies body positivity and authenticity — shared her own story in June with an episode on self-compassion, body confidence and not feeling like every other blogger. If you’re in this industry, Julie’s podcast is a MUST!
