If you’re ready to take the plunge and get the Clear + Brilliant laser treatment, you’re in luck. After experiencing the treatment at LaserAway TWICE so far, I’ve learned helpful tips and tricks to speed up recovery. If you’re unsure about what Clear + Brilliant is or if you’re a candidate, check out my last blog post sharing answering reader questions here to learn more. This blog post is here to share my feel-good recovery tips after getting a laser facial.
Lasers sound scary, don’t they? I know I was SO nervous before getting my first Clear + Brilliant facial but it was actually quick and easy. (I detailed the process here.) This specific treatment is targeted at younger people who are seeking to get ahead of father time by investing in a program that’s meant to increase collagen growth, improve skin texture, reduce pores and diminish fine lines. The recovery only takes 2-3 days, but in the beginning, you’ll leave with a red face (equivalent to a sunburn), some minor swelling if you’re sensitive, and a little dryness on your skin. Unlike more invasive treatments, this all clears up in a few days but there are some products I SWEAR by to make you feel good as new.
What to Steer Clear From
Your skin will be sensitive for the first week or so after treatment. Steer clear from abrasive scrubs, toners, or products that contain glycolic acids or Retin A.
Two. SUNSCREEN. You should always be wearing sunscreen, but it’s especially important after your laser treatment. Don’t leave home without it. You should try to avoid the sun for at least a few days after your treatment. I know it’s summertime so if you do find yourself outside make sure to wear a hat and keep your face covered. I personally love this Cetaphil’s moisturizer with SPF 50 because it’s powerful and acts as your daily moisturizer.
Three. Vitamin C Serum is a vital component of any successful skincare routine. It’s a powerful antioxidant and can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles & discoloration. I also find that it’s incredibly hydrating after a laser procedure.
Four. Facial spray is basically a godsend after the Clear + Brilliant treatment. I LOVE Evian Mineral Water Spray to spritz on in between my face wash and my moisturizer in the morning. For a hydrating and healing option, I really love this rose water and aloe facial spray. It is the holy grail of facial sprays in my opinion.
Five. I will always find a way to incorporate a sheet mask into my routine. There is nothing better than laying back, putting on Netflix and sitting in a cooling sheet mask for 20 minutes. I found that sheet masks really help to reduce the redness and swelling after a laser treatment. Pro tip: leave yours in the refrigerator before you put it on for extra cooling! Just make sure your sheet mask is basic (like a Vitamin C one) and without acids.
Six. Another great hydration option is Josie Maran’s Milk. This lightweight hydrating serum penetrates deeply and absorbs quickly to preserve the elasticity and bounce of skin’s youthful cushion. The 100% Pure Argan Oil repairs and fortifies with a weightless combination of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E to reveal fresher, healthier, more radiant skin packed with long-lasting moisture.
BONUS: If you’re looking for the coverup, this CC cream is the best thing to add to your collection and it offers SPF 50 so you won’t have to worry about sun damage.
