There aren’t many things I’m certain of in life, but I am pretty certain about this: no matter where you are and what timezone you’re in, there is an 80% chance I have my earbuds in at this very moment. While I love me some Kishi Bashi and Avett Brothers, I’m not listening to music. I, my friends, am a serial podcast listener. On the weekly basis, I shuffle through podcast after podcast—obsessing over the New & Noteworthy and critiquing episodes. Sure, this mild obsession with the art of listening started when I first learned of Serial and listened to the criminal case of Adnan Syed. The further I’ve dived into the podcast world, the more it traversed passed mystery. I’ve been incredibly moved by a few podcasts recently and am constantly chatting with friends about recommendations. What better place to share my artistic fuel than with my like-minded, creative readers? This week, I’m sharing the most inspiring podcasts in 2016 for your listening pleasure.

The thing I love most about working in a creative industry like blogging is the people you meet. Driven, hard-working and innovative are a few words that describe each and every blogger I’ve met in Houston. There’s a uniqueness that sets creatives apart from most people I know. Maybe it’s found behind camera lens or computer screens, conjured in late nights and early mornings when the world is asleep and it’s just us trying to make things happen for our art, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Sugar & Cloth‘s Ashley Rose has been the confused millennial, overworked waitress, full-time employee/full-time blogger, a 5 a.m. alarm setter, and most infamously the girl who sold her things on Craig’s List to make her DIY studio a reality. The best part? I get to call her my friend.
Sunshine, sunnies and oversized peasant sleeves…can you tell that I love this OOTD? The funny thing is that this outfit was shot at my South Florida home right before it sold. Leaving home is never an easy thing… in fact, every time I’m back in Florida I drive by my old home which surprisingly looks identical to how we left it. While I miss the palm trees, eternal sunshine, white sand and lush greenery, this outfit is certainly fit for any landscape. Whether Houston, Florida or New York, peasant sleeves are a precious, bohemian touch to a dress or top. I know the off-the-shoulder trend is HUGE right now, but let’s give this look another varietal sleeve a moment in the spotlight shall we?
There’s a few things I love about this look…okay, more than a few. If you know me, this is quintessentially my perfect outfit. It’s literally like the heavens opened up and gifted me this beauty. Here’s the catch… it WAS gifted by my lovely mother. She should have a blog, too, I suppose. So what’s the recipe to my IDEAL outfit?
By now, you’ve probably seen it just about everywhere. The off-the-shoulder trend has risen in popularity quite quickly, and by the looks of it, it’s not showing any signs of stopping soon. In fact, lots of brands are just getting started incorporating the style into their collections, making it simple for just about everyone to jump on the bandwagon and snag an off-the-shoulder top or two to add to a flirty summer wardrobe.
