We have the power to choose our mood every day. Despite what happens to us or what news might be playing in the background, we each hold the incredible power to choose how we want to see and experience this world. And if we choose correctly, life can be a beautiful gift. I’m so excited to team up with Frost Bank for the 30-Day Optimism Challenge!

The Power of Optimism

Optimism is one of the most powerful tools our brain provides us with. Scientists even say it can help you live a longer life! In fact, there is a slew of benefits. Credible experts even think optimists are more likely to have better financial health, less likely to be depressed and less likely to have high blood pressure. Who would have thought the art of smiling more and internalizing positivity could be our best medicine?

What is The 30-Day Optimism Challenge

Starting Aug. 6, I’ll be participating in Frost’s 30-Day Optimism Challenge to flex my skills as a glass-half-full kind of gal and practice acts of happiness, gratitude and more over the course of 30 days. The challenge will encourage participants to build up their community, set goals, self-reflect, and show generosity to those around you. I’ll be sharing my progress with you throughout the experience, and I’d love for you to join me!

Why I’m Excited to Join

Cup of Charisma is meant to be a place of cheer, positivity, and encouragement but I do my best to acknowledge the struggles we all go through as humans with big hearts. Life isn’t always easy; if it was, we wouldn’t need to invest in tools and guides to living a positive life. If you come into my home, I have a bookshelf filled with self-help books and walls covered in inspiring quotes. I listen to Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday and treat her like she’s my bestie (considering making a “What Would Oprah Do?” bracelet).

Before this challenge, I was going through an array of ups and downs. I’d feel like I was on the top of the world as a full-time writer and then I’d tumble down into days filled with questions on what my purpose was or why I wasn’t as successful as I’d hope. I call it the comparison game.

I started to incorporate small habits like gratitude journals and rules on my social media consumption over the last two months and I saw my positivity soar. And what’s even better: optimism feels contagious! I noticed my own positive outlook was beginning to reflect itself in my friendships and relationship. Optimism is a powerful thing.
