Chiara Ferragni Faces the Wild with SK-II

Just like school girl crushes, every blogger you ever meet will have a secret blogger crush. Chiara Ferragni is a role model to girls like me who started their blogs in their bedrooms, hoping to embody even a smattering of the grace and success of the Blonde Salad. The Blonde Salad started as a typical blog, evolving into a full company, with Chiara leading an army of fashionable, strong women. Chiara is a trailblazer in fashion blogging, a pioneer of the online world and fearless leader of the #OOTD.

I’ve kept up with Chiara’s career since first stumbling on the Blonde Salad. From her early beginnings to her shoe collection, I’ve been a fan of her work and have felt empowered by it. When I learned that Chiara was teaming up with National Geographic and SK-II, I was excited to see the final campaign that would pair her talent with nature and skincare. At first, National Geographic, Chiara Ferragni, and the luxury skincare line SK-II seemed like three VERY different pieces to a puzzle. Piecing the three subjects together felt enigmatic until I watched the campaign and learned just how seamless and brilliant this partnership was.

I’m an ad girl by nature. I studied mass communications in college, took a few courses in advertising, and binge-watched Mad Men while admiring Peggy Olsen. I’ve grown to appreciate unique advertising campaigns and nerd out a bit when I see one. One reason I love blogging is because brands will often come to bloggers with a theme or campaign, and we’re asked to make it our own. When connecting the dots between the SK-II and National Geographic campaign, I had that rush I felt in college when studying famous ads. The partnership has the X factor we crave to watch, with beautiful imagery to capture you in your tracks.

Much like Chiara’s inspiring role in the lives of young women, SK-II has built a business on helping women “change destiny” for more than 35 years. It all began at a sake brewery in Japan, where scientists noticed the elderly workers had wrinkled faces, but youthful hands. These hands were in constant contact with the sake fermentation process. It took years of research for scientists to isolate the miracle ingredient PiteraTM, a naturally-derived liquid from the yeast fermentation process. Since then, SK-II with PiteraTM has become a special secret shared by celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, and now, Chiara. The formula encapsulates texture, radiance, firmness, spot control and wrinkle resilience critical to crystal clarity.

So what is Chiara Ferragni with a SK-II product in the middle of the world’s most arid climate zone? Staying hydrated, of course. With over 50 micro-nutrients, the signature ingredient Pitera™ conditions skin and helps soothe skin surface concerns that can be caused by a range external aggressors such as harsh UV and pollution. When conditioned by Pitera™, skin is also able to lock-in moisture to overcome dryness, which can be caused by exposure to extremely dry conditions… like the desert.

So what do you think happened to Chiara when she took her SK-II Facial Treatment Essence on an expedition to Anza Borrego Desert to put her skin to the test and #FaceTheWild? Watch the video to find out:

What did you think of SK-II’s unique approach to putting their product to the test? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

This post was sponsored by SK-II and all opinions are my own. Thank you to the brands who make Cup of Charisma possible.
