Embarrassing fact: up until last year, I hadn’t owned a denim jacket. Dark times my friends. I finally caved during rodeo season to assimilate to Texas life, and have never looked back. Denim jackets are now a staple in my wardrobe and instantly add a relaxed but put together look to my outfits. Of all of the spring staples, a simple denim jacket can be a powerful statement and a fresh canvas.
Distressed, lightweight, studded, and frayed—I haven’t met a denim jacket I haven’t liked since my adoption of denim. What I love most about toting around a denim jacket, is the platform it gives you to deliver a message. Enamel pins are cute, creative ways to add personal flair and make your clothing tell a story. My first pin ever was my “approved” Anna Wintour pin, which gets so much attention. Since Anna joined my life, I’ve fallen for cute pins featuring feminist messages, desserts, corgis, and even Ruth Bader Ginsburg. If political statements aren’t your thing, you can’t go wrong with a bumblebee or Instagram camera.
