Market Street Holiday Shopping Guide

Johnny Was at Market Street Even in the wake of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I can’t help but feel like I have a ton of holiday shopping to get done in the next few weeks. As much as I love sale days and online shopping, nothing replaces the feeling of being in a store and stumbling across things you never expected to. When I was invited to Market Street, a luxury shopping center in The Woodlands, I knocked off a few items from my shopping list… and added a few more to my wish list. (For those of you outside of Texas, The Woodlands is a much quieter city that makes for a nice getaway from Houston’s hustle and bustle.)

Market Street took us on a wonderful tour featuring Johnny Was, Elaine Turner, and Cos Bar. After a few mimosas, it’s no wonder I left with multiple shopping bags.

Stop One: Johnny Was

I cannot say enough amazing things about Johnny Was! I had never been in the store before and immediately became entranced by vivid bohemian scarves and textile bemusements. The designs are so ornate yet the fits were so simple. One of the best parts of our visit was the scarf tutorial. I, JIllian Goltzman, only know one way to wear a scarf. The Johnny Was staff was kind enough to gift me a gorgeous scarf and help me style it to perfection.

Stop Two: Elaine Turner

Sometimes I thank my lucky stars that I’m in Texas. (Was that southern enough?) If I hadn’t moved to the Lone Star state, I may have never stumbled on Elaine Turner! The Market Street Elaine Turner boutique is overflowing with bright pink, gold embellishments, and unique style that is not found often. I think what I love about Elaine Turner most is her commitment to charity. Since the company began, Elaine avidly supported breast cancer awareness, donating time and funds to various cancer related non-profits. A woman after my own heart.

Stop Three: Cos Bar

I had actually never heard of Cos Bar until my visit to Market Street. I felt so welcomed by the staff who had made us sweet treats and Bloody Mary’s. You can tell instantly that the staff cares about the shopper and will work with them to find the best color matches and products for their skin. If you contact the store, you can even plan a makeup party with you and your girlfriends or set up an appointment to learn how to apply your own. I’m not the most amazing makeup artist, so I can see myself taking advantage of the 1×1 time. (There’s a reason why you never see beauty tutorials on this site!) I am a sucker for red lipstick though, so when I opened my package from Cos Bar to see Clinique Matte Crimson lipstick.

When You Visit:

Market Street is the perfect day trip destination to get away from the congestion of Houston. If you’re a mom, it’s a worthwhile trip for your family. They currently have a massive holiday display with a gigantic Christmas tree that’s perfect for photos. Santa will be present for photos all month long, so you can check out Market Street’s list of events here. My favorite restaurant in Market Street is Uni Sushi — seriously delicious, but if sushi doesn’t fancy you there are tons of restaurants to choose from. Other notable stores to visit include Kate Spade, Kendra Scott, Alex and Ani, J. Crew and Marmi.

Happy Shopping!
